New glass pieces

A few of the other things I've made in glassblowing last semester - at this point there's only a couple small paperweights I haven't put up here.

Also, I am in the midst of a gentleman's bet with my friend Maggie about whether I can put up a post (of substance) every day through January. While her lack of faith in me is saddening, I will persevere, even the days I'll spend all day driving across Kansas.

Anyway.

Glass.

My favorite paperweight so far,
gave as gift to grandparents.

A vase of sorts.

stem - gave to other grandma and mom.

Gave to various people.

Some more glass

Here are a few of the paperweights I made in glassblowing this past fall. The small red and green paperweights were each two gathers (one gather of molten glass, rolled in color, then a clear gather on top), the others are three gathers.

Teal, yellow on top, swirled and then
rolled on a spiky-metal-grid.

Glassblowing - What I've done so far

The Missouri University of Science and Technology has a course in glassblowing - I'm taking it this semester, and am trying to learn as much as possible of this fun and challenging trade. I hope to be able to continue this even after I leave the school, but for now I just need to make the most of the opportunity while I have it. Here's my collection of bobbles and trinkets I've made so far (except for a few paperweights I've given already), in order of first to most recent. Click on the pictures for full size;
