Quick Music Observation

I got back to my music director desk today and started looking through my stack of music that piled up over winter break. I listened to the new Editors album, In This light And on This Evening, and, what do you know, the third track "Papillon sounded familiar...

Here's that track on the youtubes -

Pay close attention to that song. Listen to it. SAVOR IT.

Now listen to R.O. Manse's song, "Ladyboy" - sorry for the bad quality, if it annoys you too much, click here to go to a stream of it off The Hype Machine.

I find them oddly similar. In fact, a lot of R.O. Manse songs have something in common with In This Light and on This Evening. Interesting, since R.O. Manse wrote that several years ago. If nothing else, it shows a mutual admiration of '80's synth-pop, but there COULD be a deeper, possibly conspiratorially deeper, connection.

I'll leave you to ponder that with another of his 1980's-throwback masterpieces, this with another great modern songsmith, Dragon Boy Suede, best known for his song "You Won't Sass Me Like That When I Can Summon Wolves".

Here's "Bad Wiring".
